Ok so lets be serious here, I have terrible luck with showers here. I'm sure you probably remember my last encounter with clarica entering the shower while I was freezing in the awkward toilet shower. Well I finally tried to give it another go!
I got it over with and started to get used to the dark room, freezing cold water, and the awkward squat toilet next to it. When it was over I figured I made it through I eventful. Boy was I wrong. The little drain in the floor was clogged and I didn't noticed. I turned around to notice the water had been flooding out if the doorway and into the hallway
I panicked and started using the small bucket, used to wash your hands since there isn't toilet paper, and scoop some water into the toilet. Probably one if my more comical moments of the trip. Finally I noticed a brush that they use to unclog the drain and I fixed it. Phew that was a close one. I thought I was good until I opened the door and saw a perfect stream of water had flowed through the concrete hall and out the front door.
I was absolutely mortified. Luckily it is a concrete floor so no damage was done but I felt like a complete fool.
School was fun because Allie came up for the day and we all joked around and laughed while the kids took exams. I saw a different side to a few of the teachers and felt like I was really getting to know them more. I felt like I was part of the family at the school.
After school I painted some more and started a jungle room! The monsoon has really started and the rain has really been coming down. Luckily it broke long enough for santos to get me and another volunteer down the hill on his motorbike.
In the evening we adventured around another part of Lakeside that I did not know was there. If you travel down further than the typical tourist area you reach a cute park and the side of the lake. Very nice! Even though it was raining it was still very beautiful and yet another side of Pokhara I had not seen. This city has so many different areas and atmospheres.
Santosh, Allie, Paola (new volunteer), and I went out for dinner together. We ate at a delicious restaurant. I had chicken a la kiev and it was a nice change. I think we were the only people in the entire place. During dinner I was able to learn some more information on Nepali culture.
The four of us went back to the room to hang out and play cards. Later on we adventured through town in the rain and had a ton of laughs!
