An Open Letter To Backpackers

Dear backpackers,

I love you all. I really really do. But please don't be that backpacker who ruins it for everyone. I get that your on a lovely long holiday and want to have fun. We all want that and we all do it. But be respectful.

Hostels have common rooms for you to hang out in when you get home at four am. A ton even have rooftop areas. Or even better just stay out if your not ready to come home yet.

Ok I understand you can't be super quiet when getting home. We are all in 12 person dorms rooms and its impossible for everyone to sleep perfect.

But there is no reason, and I mean no reason, to come home and bang on everyone's dorm room dorms. There is no reason to carry on for an hour at four am by screaming, yelling how your going to get kicked out for being to loud, wrestling against the walls, and throwing my over your shoulder when I'm trying to use the toilet because you woke me up.

Im not against having the time of your lives. By all means go ahead. I sure am! But please be respectful!

You wonder why westerners get a bad rep? It's probably because people like you make comments like this.

"So what have you seen in Southeast Asia?"
"Oh nothing. We are not looking to see the tunnels, war museum, culture, that big temple, or anything. I just came to Asia to get wasted."

Do us all a favor and stay in our own country and do that at home instead.

Sincerely,
The entire fourth floor of Siagon Inn

P.S. Maybe if you took a night off you'd see how spectacular these countries are!
